Kingmaker!

The Ptolus campaign ended, and not as well as I could have hoped for. It ended in a heated discussion stemming from one of players' failed expectations, and my insistence on playing the not-so-nice nobles as... well, not-so-nice.

It was horrible. My Ptolus campaign represented, to me, the best setting and the best rules system in one, great package. If I had the time, I would have embarked on a series of higher-level adventures, where The Quaan had been colonized for the andrecite, where dark elves started crawling up and where The Spire began beckoning again. But the time wasn't there and the final session became mostly about an enraged player and about a group of characters that simply disintegrated.

Bugger.

But now it's Kingmaker! They're really committed to making a strong, cohesive group, and personalities, background stories and roles were discussed as much as if not more than actual classes. That said, they look a bit weak in the healing department. We'll see.

I'm re-reading the adventures. They're very good, and in particular the aspect of time sounds really cool. Some of the characters may even slip into Old Age as we play, as some of them are thinking about playing Middle-Aged characters. Fun!
